A trip to the capital city...Tallin

June 26 we rode a bus in to Tallin. The Smith Family (missionaries in Tallin) had invited our family to Mike's 45th birthday party. Estonians - like the Russians - thrown their own party. Since his party was Saturday, they invited us to come in Friday and spend the night. Friday afternoon Mike took Ron and I to a store that had used appliances. We were able to get a washer and a dryer! Penny took me to another store that had a much larger selection than what we can get in Rakvere. The rest of Friday and Saturday we helped the Smith's around their house as they prepared for the big celebration. Many people were invited to come to the house on Saturday afternoon for lunch and dessert. We did what we could to help, enjoyed the fellowship, and met lots of new people. It was our joy to meet a military family - the Lindlers. Scott is in the Marines and is in charge of guarding the U.S. Embassy here. Pam is a sweet lady and they have two children - Melanie (10) and Mark (5).
We were talked in to staying for church on Sunday. There is an English service at 9:45, then a Russian service at 11:00. After lunch, Mike loaded our appliances in his van and him and Ron took them to Rakvere. About an hour later, Penny took the kids and I to the bus station and we rode the bus home. We enjoyed our weekend, but it was good to get back to our own place.
