Russian Church in Narva

Since we had a guest visiting from the states, we took her to a Russian Baptist Church in Narva. We enjoyed the singing and the preaching. Well, the first preacher talked so fast I hardly understood one word he said. The second preacher was much easier to understand and I was able to get the point of the message. Ron was asked to come up and give a brief testimony. He always does great with his Russian. After the service we visited with folks for about 45 minutes. Everyone was very friendly. An older couple, Sarah and her husband, talked with us for a while. We had a great time and are excited to be working with the Russians in Estonia.

A trip to Narva

A couple of weeks ago we took a trip to Narva - the city in Estonia that borders Russia. We had a great time! Narva is about 98% Russian. Other than the Estonian words (on street signs, stores, etc) it was like being in Russia. Enjoy the pictures.

The blessing of.....FAMILY DEVOTIONS!

Our family looks forward to devotion time. We gather in the living room, sing some songs, read the Bible, and pray. It thrills my heart to hear our children reading from the Bible, asking questions, requesting their favorite songs, and praying from their hearts. It is also very exciting to share praises and answered prayer with the kids about things we have prayed for as a family. One of the greatest things I can give my kids is the knowledge that they serve a REAL God who answers prayer!!!!

Happy Birthday, Caleb

September 8th we celebrated Caleb's 3rd birthday. I am so thrilled that God gave Caleb to our family. He is a sweet little boy that fills our home with so much joy. As we celebrated Caleb's birthday this year I was overwhelmed with thankfulness for him. As many of you know, in August of 2008 Caleb was hit by the car in my parents' driveway. God protected him in a miraculous way. He was in the hospital for about 4 days. After about a month he was practically as good as new! What a great God we serve. God also had his hand of protection upon him when he was born. There were some complications with his heart rate and I had an emergency c-section. I am just so thankful that God gave Caleb to us to raise for Him. My prayer is that God will use Caleb in a mighty way.

School Days 2009

Another school year has begun. We are off to a great start and the kids have a great spirit. The kids' schooling is very important to me. I don't want them to miss out on everything just because they are homeschooled on the mission field. So, I have determined to do all I can to make school exciting, a quiet atmosphere, a great learning time, and fun. I get many of my ideas from our home church's Christian School - Sequoia Baptist Academy. Ever since I attended school at the Sequoia Baptist Academy, we have memorized a book of the Bible during the school year. This is one of the great traditions I am passing on to my children. This year we are learning I Peter and I have committed to learn it with them. How precious it is to hear kids quote scripture that has been memorized and hidden in their hearts.
Another great opportunity that is unique to this year is having others close by to have "school days". Two other American families in Tallinn (a little more than an hour away) homeschool their children. Our desire is to get together about once a month for some kind of special day - field trip, educational trip, play day, P.E. Day, etc. This will be a special treat for the kids. All three of mine are very excited.
I pray that the Lord will daily guide me as I train and teach my children in the way they should go. As a Christian mother, my responsibility is so much more than teaching them in Math, History, Spelling, etc. Lord, please help me not to fail the most precious thing you have given me by forgetting to teach them what is most important....about YOU.
